You’ll be joining us at a really exciting time, as we've just re-opened and are looking to refresh from the dreaded lockdowns that are hopefully behind us, we look to attract more guests to the hotel from far and wide as well as our locals of course.
You’ve already been cooking in a commercial kitchen for a couple of years or so, we know you enjoy it and are really good and confident at it, so what you’d really like now is to be part of a small friendly team that looks after each other and appreciates your skills.
You’ll be working alongside and supported by our operations manager and our loyal team members and encouraged by us, the hotel owners who are also on site. All of our team have a wealth of hospitality and catering experience so you will be well supported and integrated in to our key team and you will learn from us just as you have skills to share with us I’m sure.
We believe in a good work life balance, so although you will need to work around 3 breakfast shifts per week, you’ll also manage 4 lie ins too!! After breakfast you might enjoy a siesta, a round of golf, a walk along the beach or spotting some of the RAF jets before coming back to cook dinner for our guests, but as your part of a small friendly team, you’ll look forward to doing this.
Moray is a great place to live. Our town of Lossiemouth has a population of around 5,000 people and a large, busy RAF Base too. We have good links to our nearest major town, Elgin where you will find the usual chain cafes and shops as well as many smaller independent and unique shops, cafes etc. On your all important days off, usually two together every week you could visit the nearby city of Inverness or Aberdeen, enjoy skiing at Aviemore, maybe a sailing boat trip along the coast or a distillery to name a few activities. To ensure you can get the best out of your time with us, ideally you will have at least one weekend off every month.
Our kitchen is quite modern and well maintained so as you would expect you will be surrounded by all the usual equipment that you need including Rational Ovens, a Chargrill and our very popular Volcanic Hot Rock Oven so you can wow our guests with our very popular steaks.
We are looking for someone who is organized and will take pride in our hotel and kitchen, our standard of food, who is friendly and always puts the guest first. You won’t be shy when it comes to work, your happy to get stuck in to the dishes with the rest of our team because after all teamwork is what makes everyone’s life easier.
You might come from a food led pub, restaurant or hotel kitchen, either way your ambitious, wanting to shine and reach the next level of your potential quickly and that’s certainly something we can help you do. With our training and support we believe with the right attitude you could be growing your team and be proud to be called our head chef – we’ve helped others do this too.
Although you have a good knowledge, you probably won’t be the finished article just yet, but that’s ok as you will be confident and we will train you and help you develop your own style but still learning our quirks too so we all get to the same standard for the guest. We would see you coming from your current role of being a good CDP, Junior or Sous Chef looking to impress not just us but our guests with your own freshly created specials on our menu, assisted by your KP of course.
As a starting salary of £25,000 per annum, you will work around 40 to 45 hours per week, usually over 5 days with 2 days off every week. If you need to move to the area, we are happy for you to live in a hotel room whilst you settle in. When you are ready and the time is right for you it might be best for you to move out and live locally, there are lots of rental properties and house shares available at reasonable prices, possibly a good way to meet new friends – chances are we might be willing to help with these costs because that’s the type of team that we are!
All this sound too good to be true? It really isn’t, this is what comes when you are part of our small friendly ‘family’ type team, we really do look after each other, but of course you have to be quite special too, therefore we are willing to wait for the right person – is that you? If you think so, we’d love to hear a bit about you, some of the places you’ve worked and what you did in these roles, we look forward to receiving your CV.
An immediate start could be available for the right person and we can probably also offer work in the hotel for your partner too if needs be.
We at the Stotfield Hotel are proud to be a fair, inclusive and equal opportunities employer.
